We understand that you are about to make a serious investment in your property ,and we want to ensure that you can see and understand where every penny of that investment goes, our project process uses several stages as describe below:

Stage 1

Call us for advice or a free quotation. We can offer ideas and advice to develop your personal specification. We will discuss the different options with regard to design, layout, materials and finishing. We will also explore with you ideas to minimise the costs.

Stage 2

Following the initial enquiry we will arrange a site visit and provide you with a free quotation and 'sketch’ up the work if required and will also discuss the timescales involved to create the kitchen or piece of furniture discussed during Stage 1.  

We are more than happy to discuss any queries before we firm up the project.

Stage 3

Before installation work begins, we discuss and confirm the specification and/or design and measurements. Don't worry, it is common to want to make last minute changes or alterations as work continues and we are happy to go through them with you!

Throughout the process, from concept to completion we are keen to communicate with you. offering an accessible, friendly and personal service to ensure the work and service is more than satisfactory.

Buying bespoke carpentry or furniture is not something you do everyday, in fact it may be something you do only once in your lifetime; we understand that you might be new to the process, therefore, we aim to layout clearly and transparently how the process is broken down and what you can expect from your dealings with us. There is quite a lot of information but we hope it is useful; you can, and should revisit the section as your project progresses through the stages.


From start to finish any communications with P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry will be handled by Paul the owner.  Paul will guide and advise you through building regulations, planning requirements, and any design or specification constraints that surround your intended project, there is no charge for this. After listening to your requirements he will provide input on materials, design and initial outline on pricing; this can be done on site with you or via phone and email. Once specifics have been decided Paul will supply you with a fixed quote, specifications, and timescales for your approval and confirmation.


Initial Enquiry and Design

Once the final specifications and price have been approved, we will ask you to formally place an order with us and to make a payment of 40% of the contract price, once the deposit has been received, we will carry out a full site survey. At this stage it is still possible to alter the project and, after re-pricing and a written agreement is made, these final measurements and specifications will form the basis for the project terms of reference process. Working drawings and specifications (if needed) will be produced.  At this stage although it is still possible to change elements of the project, however this may require further cost for additional materials or an extension to initial timeframes for the work to be completed.


Site Survey and Design Specifications

You will been given plenty of notice before your scheduled fitting date, and ideally access to the site of work has been cleared prior to our arrival. We will provide ample coverings for carpets, furniture and the like, and every care will be taken to avoid damage to your property. We will then remove the old joinery in a controlled and safe manner. Depending on the size of the job we will either store the waste on site until completion, when it will be removed and disposed of responsibly; or we will remove it on the same day. The site will always be left tidy, safe and secure at the end of each day.

Installation and Fitting

Due to the high-value of materials required to build your solution we require a deposit of 40% of the overall quoted and accepted pricing at the time of order confirmation. The final 60% and the build and fitting costs are due on satisfactory completion and sign-off on the agreed project. We must make it clear at this stage that any changes to the agreed project work from Stage 2 will require additional costs to be added to the final 60% payment.  Paul will discuss any additional  work and prices before commencing any additional works you request.
