P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry has more than 35 years of experience in providing high quality furniture for both domestic and commercial clients. We work to the highest standards and we care about what we are making.

How far do you travel?

J&P Stakim Bespoke Carpentry are based in Lancing, West Sussex (between Brighton and Worthing), however, we work throughout the UK and do travel nationwide. Past clients have been in Hampshire, Surrey, London, Berkshire, and as far as Scotland.

Do you have a standard range of furniture?

No, everything that is made at P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry is custom built, designed for you and your space. However, we can on request source some furniture for sale which is individually made, but of a standard design from such outlets like B&Q or Wicks etc.

My ceilings slope and walls are irregular. Is that a problem?

No, all our projects are custom built and bespoke to you, your design and your room, therefore we design your project deliverable around the space including ceiling height slopes and walls.

How much does your bespoke carpentry solutions cost?

As all of our projects are bespoke, pricing is made to suit each project and we try to accommodate your budget within our design.

Do you install everything?

Yes, at P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry, we like to see the project through from start to finish. We provide a one-stop shop solution and when required we will bring in other partner qualified skilled trades people to complete work that require a qualified person to finish such as plumbing, electrics plus other specialist type of work.

Do you have a showroom?

No, firstly all of our projects are bespoke. We see our website as a 'showroom' showing past and recent projects that we have been involved with. Many of our customers would be happy to let you view work we have previously carried out. Most of our work is photographed, and we will bring the relevant pictures when we make our initial visit to you, or email them to you, upon request.

Do you give free quotations?

Yes. We do give no obligation free quotations. We can come out to your home or you may prefer to submit an enquiry through our contact page with a description of your idea, dimensions and possibly a photo of the space into which you want the furniture to be fitted. We will then discuss your project in more detail before we can give an estimated quote.

Do you provide drawings?

Yes. Once the design is agreed, we will provide you with drawings or a detailed sketch so you can confirm the look of the bespoke carpentry work requested and make sure that you are completely happy with the design and dimensions. We will make as many changes as are necessary until you are completely happy that the drawings are perfect and are exactly what you require..

Are you going to make a big mess in our home?

We endeavor to respect your home and furnishings so we use dust sheets on all the floors and we will cover soft furnishing with plastic sheets if this is required. Most of the custom build work is done whilst onsite at the clients home. All our cutting power tools have dust extractors and when the work is completed we remove all rubbish and clean the room to leave the house as we found it.

How flexible are you once work has started if I want to change something?

If you feel that something needs changing after we have started work on your agreed project we will do our best to a accommodate your request and will inform you if this will be free of charge or at an extra cost. See our process page on this website for further details.

How do you deal with working around electrical sockets?

Depending on where each sockets are we build around or incorporate them into the design to make them invisible or we can either remove the socket or move it to a new location using a qualified electrician. Alternatively access can be made through the unit. Phone sockets can be relocated if there is enough length on the cable.

Do you only do domestic work?

No. We build and install bespoke carpentry, joinery, and building services solutions for domestic homes as well as commercial clients, offices, shops and whoever requires our services.

I need decorating and plastering work. Are you able to help?

Here at P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry we provide a complete range of building services providing a one-stop shop service for all your project needs and we are able to quote for any other work outside of the agreed project that you may require which may sometimes involve our partner trade professionals in installing flooring, plastering, decorating etc. Please ask if you are interested.

What do you mean when you refer to 'bespoke' carpentry?

P&J Stakim Bespoke Carpentry designs, creates, and custom build carpentry solutions such as kitchens, bedrooms, and any type of furniture to suit each individual client requirement. Nothing we deliver is mass-produced nor is it sold in a showroom. Each project is developed to satisfy the specific requirements of the client – to accommodate their needs, vision and space.

Will a deposit be required?

Yes we do require a deposit. 40% of the agreed price for the overall project . See our process and terms and conditions for further details.

When will the final payment be due?

The final balance payment will be due once the full project has completed. We do make sure all our clients are 100% satisfied of our work before we take the 60% final balance. See our process and terms and conditions for further details.

Are you fully insured?

We have full public liability insurance and the certificate can be viewed on request.
